Kids say the darndest things!

I overheard Avery talking with Kate the other day: "When I grow up, I'm going to have five children . . . and one child."
I also overheard Avery playing with her friend Emily outside our house, so I called over to her, "Avery, don't be bossy." She replied, "I'm not - I'm being the mom." Uh oh.

Kate said to me recently, "Mom, sometimes I tell you things and you don't listen to what I say because you'll say, 'Oh, that's good'. I asked her how she knew I wasn't listening. "Because sometimes what I tell you isn't something good, it's bad." As Mac said to me when I told him the story: Busted!

I just love these comments, and I'm so glad you are writing them down. They make us laugh--and think! The kids look so cute. I hope you will plan to stop by at least for a bit on your way south since we won't be here on your way north! Love you!

I love the cake, wow, my kids would love me to make a cake like that for them. Good luck being a better listener, I think all parents deal with the same problem.

I loved this...especially when Kate said she can tell when you aren't listening. You are totally BUSTED! ;) I find myself doing the same thing too. I don't know if Kylie can tell yet when I am not really listening though. So funny!
